The Potato Patch
The Start of The Potato Patch

On Boxing Day 2020, our very first rescue piggy arrived into care, just a few days after opening.
A very special guinea pig called Figgy was surrendered to the rescue. He was a school guinea pig who had unfortunately lost his mate. Upon arrival, it was discovered that he had severe dental problems - his upper incisors were fractured and his lower incisors were growing into his gums.

We got him the veterinary care he desperately needed and after dental surgery and castration he went on to find a new home.

It was clear from Figgy's case how many more piggies must be in need of help, and so The Potato Patch set out to help many, many more!

Our mission is to use our veterinary expertise to make ethical decisions for all guinea pigs in our care, seeking specialist treatment where indicated. Hannah continually develops her knowledge by attending webinars, conferences and even writing published papers on guinea pig welfare, in order to provide the best possible outcome for all.
